Miami-based fashion entrepreneur Sofia Symonds says professionals who embrace change instead of fearing it are better positioned for long-term success.

MIAMI, FL / ACCESS Newswire / July 22, 2026 / The traditional career ladder is giving way to something much less predictable. As industries evolve, technology reshapes jobs, and professionals change roles more frequently than ever before, fashion entrepreneur and former model Sofia Symonds believes the ability to reinvent yourself has become one of today's greatest career advantages.

Symonds understands that journey firsthand. She began her career modeling in Morocco before moving to Miami in 2012 to pursue opportunities in the international fashion industry. She later studied fashion design and launched her own fashion brand, Bellarini. Each transition required her to build new skills while relying on the experiences she had already gained.

"People often think reinvention means starting over, but I don't see it that way," said Symonds. "Every experience gives you skills that can be applied somewhere else. The key is being willing to keep learning instead of staying where you're comfortable."

Her perspective reflects broader workforce trends. According to the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025, nearly 40 percent of workers' core skills are expected to change by 2030 as technology and business needs continue to evolve. The report also identifies resilience, flexibility, curiosity, and lifelong learning among the qualities that will become increasingly important in the years ahead.

Symonds believes many professionals underestimate how valuable transferable skills can be.

"My background in modeling taught me much more than people might expect," she said. "I learned how to communicate with different personalities, adapt quickly, represent a brand professionally, and work under pressure. Those lessons became just as valuable when I moved into entrepreneurship."

She also encourages people to stop viewing career changes as signs of uncertainty.

"We've created this idea that successful careers should follow one straight path," said Symonds. "In reality, some of the most successful people have changed direction several times. Every chapter adds another layer to your experience."

Research from LinkedIn's Work Change Report also suggests that professionals are expected to develop new skills throughout their careers as workplace demands continue to shift. Rather than resisting those changes, Symonds believes individuals should approach them as opportunities for growth.

"Learning something new can feel uncomfortable at first, but that's usually where the biggest growth happens," she said. "The more willing you are to adapt, the more prepared you'll be for opportunities you can't even see yet."

While her own career has taken unexpected turns, Symonds says curiosity has remained the constant.

"I've always tried to stay open to new experiences instead of defining myself by one job title," she said. "Careers evolve, industries evolve, and people evolve. I think that's something to embrace rather than fear."

Symonds encourages professionals to invest time each year in learning a new skill, exploring a different industry, or taking on projects outside their usual responsibilities. She believes that continuous growth, rather than a perfectly planned career path, is what prepares people for lasting success.
